IL DAVIDE (2023)

Urodzony w Słowenii reżyser operowy, scenograf, dramaturg, performer, menadżer operowy i pedagog Rocc (ur. 1998-2003, Master of Arts), następnie studia podyplomowe w zakresie „scenografii” na Uniwersytecie Sztuki i Projektowania w Zurychu w Szwajcarii (2003-2005, Executive Master) oraz u Rosalie w Offenbach am Main, Niemcy (2005- 2006). Otrzymał stypendium Ministerstwa Kultury Republiki Słowenii oraz wsparcie Słoweńskiej Akademii Nauk i Sztuk. Jego pseudonim jest hołdem dla Marie Mrázkovej, profesor aktorstwa teatralnego Rocca i jego życiowej mentorki.

Rocc wystawił ponad 60 przedstawień operowych na scenach operowych w Lublanie, Pradze, Brnie, Ostrawie, Rydze, Wrocławiu, w Sali Griega i Teatrze Narodowym w Bergen, w Centrum Cankar w Lublanie iw innych miejscach. Jego projekty były prezentowane na wielu międzynarodowych festiwalach, takich jak ISCM World Music Days, Ljubljana Festival, Bergen International Festival, Prague Quadriennale, OPERA Festival w Pradze, Janáček Brno Festival, Morawska Jesień Music Festival w Brnie, Ekspozycja Festiwalu Nowej Muzyki w Brnie , projekt Musica non grata w Czechach, Festiwal Muzyki Współczesnej Warszawska Jesień, Festiwal Audio Art w Krakowie, Festiwal Muzyki Sakralnej w Pordenone, Dzień Kompozytora w Holandii. Rocc ma szczególne upodobanie do współczesnej opery, łącząc alternatywne dźwięki, sztukę performatywną i instalacyjną, nowe media i projekty site-specific. Od 2013 roku jest inicjatorem i dyrektorem artystycznym Concept operapovera, zespołu zajmującego się współczesną i eksperymentalną estetyką muzyczno-teatralną.

W sezonie 2007/2008 Rocc pełnił funkcję dramaturga Słoweńskiej Opery Narodowej w Mariborze. W sezonie 2008/2009 pełnił funkcję zastępcy dyrektora artystycznego i dramaturga Opery Janáčka Teatru Narodowego w Brnie, w latach 2009-2011 był dyrektorem artystycznym Opery Janáčka oraz członkiem Rady Programowej Międzynarodowego Festiwalu im. Janáčka w Brnie. W latach 2011-2013 był dyrektorem artystycznym Praskiej Opery Państwowej, która od 2012 roku jest afiliowana z Operą Narodową w Pradze. W latach 2013-2019 był dyrektorem artystycznym Słoweńskiej Opery Narodowej w swoim rodzinnym mieście Lublanie.

W 2018 roku Rocc otrzymał Wyróżnienie za wybitne dzieła sztuki, najwyższy tytuł artystyczny Uniwersytetu w Lublanie, który jest równoznaczny z tytułem naukowym doktora nauk ścisłych. Działa również jako pedagog reżyserii scen operowych i aktorstwa operowego oraz jako członek profesjonalnych jury.

- He worked as a scenographer with the Leipziger Tanztheater (Germany) on the projects “LTT 24” (2005) and “failed” (2006), choreography by Canan Erek.

- Rocc has a special affinity for contemporary opera, he has already participated in 21 world premieres of various music-theatre projects.

- In 2006, on the occasion of the world premiere of the opera The Days the Nights by Vít Zouhar, directed and designed by Rocc, the documentary film “The Magic of One Flute” ("Kouzlo jedné flétny") was recorded by the Czech Television.

- In 2011 the book “History of Slovenia” (“Dějiny Slovinska”, published by Nakladatelství Lidové noviny) was published in the Czech Republic, where Rocc is listed as one of the most important Slovenian artists to be presented in the Czech Republic.

- In 2015 his staging of the new Slovene opera The Tenth Daughter by Milko Lazar at the National Opera Ljubljana was recorded by RTV Slovenija.

- On 23.12.2015 he directed and designed the Slovenian state celebration on the Day of independence and unity at the Cankar Centre (Gallus Hall) in Ljubljana with the direct transmission of RTV Slovenija.

- On 5.6.2019 he was the co-author of the project Echo–Metamorphoses: Gardens of Life and director of the Opening ceremony of the Prague Quadrennial 2019 at the Exhibition Grounds Prague, Czech Republic.

- On 23.10.2019 he directed the Festive celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Academy of Music of the University of Ljubljana at the Cankar Centre (Gallus Hall), recorded by RTV Slovenija.
