JEWISH COMPOSERS IN THE SALON OF THE SOCIETY

The last song evening for 2023 will take place at the association's headquarters, the Augusta Cultural Salon, on November 18, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. It is only by chance that this song evening is connected to the Görlitz Jewish Cultural Days, which are running at the same time.

The young but already internationally known as a song specialist, soprano Anna Graf accompanied by Han-Lin Yun travel from Hamburg to Görlitz to present pearls from her repertoire that are dedicated to Jewish cultural heritage in Europe: pearls like the "Four Early Songs" by Alban Berg or the “Seven Jewish Songs” by Meiczyslaw Weinberg.

Invitation to the salon at Augustastrasse 6 in Görlitz, the association's Wilhelminian-era headquarters in one of the most beautiful streets in Görlitz.

Educational projects

Between 7 and 8 September, four musicians from the Lusatian Baroque Ensemble will playfully introduce to pupils to baroque music. The children will not only come in touch with the music of great composers with live music, but they also have the opportunity to experience historical instruments up close and learn something about the music and the composers. The program includes beautiful baroque works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Philip Telemann, Georg Friedrich Händel, Johann Adolf Hasse and Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger. The project is funded by the city of Görlitz.

19-20.08.2023

We begin our first important cooperation with the cultural association "Studio Volantes" in the Czech Republic, the musicians' collective organizes the Baroque Festival in Olomouc. In view of the 300th anniversary of the Wrocław Opera in 2025, this collaboration is particularly welcome. Founded by the Habsburgs, opera in Silesia is a common cultural heritage that we share with Austria, Bohemia and Italy. After the world premiere of Antonio Bioni's opera "Issipile" (2021), we will start performing the music of Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf, Kapellmeister in the service of the Bishop of Wrocław, in cooperation with Studio Volantes. "Davide" was written in 1770 in Javornik (Johannisberg). We stage the oratorio (director: Rocc) in the impressive setting of the Pearl of Zeliszów (August 19) and in the Lukaskirche in Dresden (August 20) at 7 p.m. each time.
