PROJECTS

The projects of the association develop on three axes:

+ The exploration and rediscovery of the forgotten but rich and important cultural heritage of the region (Saxony, Bohemia, Silesia). Here the activities also include the rescue and rehabilitation of monuments such as the former Evangelical Langhans Church in Giersdorf (Perła Żeliszowa). This includes the publication of texts, brochures, documentation through sound and video recordings, the digitization and edition of scores as well as their printing.

These include the projects to rediscover the work of Bolko von Hochberg, Anna Teichmüller, Max Marschalk, Andreas Hammerschmidt, Constantin Dedekind and Martin Opitz, Antonio Lotti in Dresden and Antonio Bioni in Breslau. In 2022, the chairwoman of the association researched the composer Johann Christoph Richter (Dresden, 1700-1785) and performed scenes from his opera "Il re pastore" at the same time as arias from the opera of the same name by Johann Adolf Hasse. In 2023 and in cooperation with the association Kulturni Morava (Olomouc), the oratorio by Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf "Davide" was performed in the Perle von Zeliszow and Lukaskirche in Dresden. The club will continue to devote itself to the legacy of Carl Ditters in Silesia.

In 2024, the commission will be given to set poetry by the Jewish poet Paul Mühsam from Görlitz to music. Commissioning music to contemporary composers is also a part of the association's activities.

+ Promote artists and discover talent.

The talent promotion is aimed primarily at professional artists, to whom we offer a "stage" to show their talent, but also at the layman, where we offer them the opportunity to work on their talents and meet professionals.

In addition to regular events in the Augusta Kultursalon, Goßwitz Mansion, the Carl and Gerhart Hauptmann House Museum in Schreiberhau and OP ENHEIM in Breslau, Ars Augusta e.V. is the initiator of the international song competition "Bolko von Hochberg" in Görlitz/Zgorzelec and a partner in the Erasmus+ project "YES! Young Europe Sings".

Funding includes academic projects for the rehearsal of operas, the Academia Ars Augusta with the workshops "Italian Madrigals" (2019), "Silesian Apollo" (2021), as well as the opera events "Giove in Argo" (2019, 2020) and "Issipile" (2021) and "Re Pastore" (2022).

This also includes the INTERREG project "Poetry and Painting Competition" for children (2021), which included a song singing workshop for very young singers.

In 2022 the association started a project of introducing baroque music in schools. This format continues in 2023, with visits to primary schools with the Lusatian Baroque Ensemble.

+ Innovative ideas for the future and promotion of international understanding,

based on the inspiration of classical music and art of the past, as well as cooperation between cultural actors from neighboring countries Poland, Germany and Czech Republic, as well as Europe.

These include the initiative of an international song competition in Görlitz, digital projects such as the collection of musical material and the "Song of Hellas" database, but above all the Polish-German "Das Lausitzer Barockensemble".
