Jakub Borowczyk

He completed his master's degree at the Faculty of Singing and Drama of the Stanisław Moniuszko Music Academy in Gdańsk in the class of Prof. Piotr Kusiewicz. He took part in master classes given by well-known singers and educators such as Professor Piotr Łykowski, Marek Rzepka and Ewa Podleś. Jakub was honored at the First National Singing Competition in Jelenia Góra "Vox Populi" (2nd and 3rd place were not awarded). As a first-year student, Jakub played the role of one of the three children's ghosts in the opera “Die Zauberflöte” by WA Mozart in 2015, conducted by Sylwia Janiak-Kobylińska and staged in the St. John's Church Center in Gdansk. In 2018 he sang the role of the spirit in the opera “Dido and Aeneas” under the direction of Przemysław Stanisławski. In June 2017 he took part in the recording of the play “Shakespeare in Love” directed by Paweł Aigner, where he performed a solo part. The play was performed in the Shakespeare Theater in Gdansk and recorded in the studio of Radio Gdansk. In 2017 Jakub started his collaboration with the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk as part of the “Mor (ż) e Opera” project, the final of which took place in 2018 on the stage of the Opera House. On July 28, 2019 he appeared in the Warsaw Chamber Opera as Apollo in "Apollo et Hyacinthus" by WA Mozart. November 17th, 2019 he sang in the modern composition “Goetia.72. In umbra lucis “composed by Lera Auerbach. The concert took place in the Minoritenkirche in Vienna. From March 2020 he started his cooperation with the Polish Royal Opera, he sang part of Elihu in Krzesimir Dębski's opera "Job". Because of the pandemic, the premiere did not take place until April 25, 2021. His role and artistic personality met with rave reviews. This year he recorded the piece “Villanelle” by Paweł Szymański for countertenor, 2 violas and harpsichord (1981).
