TO THE WEBSITE

The center of the activities and main office of the association is the cultural salon at Augustastrasse 6 in Görlitz. Concerts, readings and exhibitions are regularly organized there. All events in a private atmosphere are open to everyone with free admission, donations for the performing artists are optional but welcome, in order to be able to reward their performance at least with a symbolic fee. In addition, every concert is recorded at a professional level and the sound recordings are given to the artist for free use, in order to offer musicians an attractive compensation for their performances.

In addition, the association regularly organizes concerts in special monuments of the region, such as Gosswitz manor house (Reichenbach O / L), or the "Carl Hauptmann Haus" Museum in Schreiberhau. It is also committed to the renovation of historic buildings that serve as cultural meeting points for Polish, Czech and German citizens who can present art and science through cross-border events.

Theater and music productions

After the successful completion of a workshop series for theater ("Gerhart and Carl Hauptmann rediscover" INTERREG Poland-Saxony) and the first major opera production (Antonio Lotti's "Giove in Argo"), the association regularly organizes theater and opera projects with talented young people.

The opera "Giove in Argo" will be performed again in September 2020 in the Royal Theater in Warsaw and in the Klemperer Hall in Dresden. The project takes place as part of the exhibition - "Wettiners on the Polish throne of two nations between Dresden and Warsaw."

Concerts in monuments,
Reruns of forgotten works -
Premieres

Through concerts with a high artistic standard, we started the activity of Lausitz Barockensemble in Telemann Year 2017. We performed a concert with music of Telemann in the Telemann town of Sorau (Żary), in Hainewalde Castle and in the Rammenau baroque castle.

We premiered and recorded the songs of the composer "Bolko von Hochberg" in the Fürstenstein Castle (Zamek Książ) and Kurtheater Bad Salzbrunn (Szczawno-Zdrój) with a group of top-class singers. In addition, we have initiated  a series of concerts in the "Carl-Hauptmann-Haus" Museum in Szklarska Poręba and in the Goßwitz manor house in Reichenbach. Other important halls: Former Evangelical Church in Ruszów, Buchenwald Castle, Citizens' Hall Zittau.

Recording technology / translations

With the project "Rediscover Gerhart and Carl Hauptmann" with the support of the European Union (INTERREG Poland-Saxony) we have started to translate important literary works of common cultural heritage into languages of neighboring countries.

We would like to continue translating of Carl Hauptmann's "diary" and the first plays by Andreas Gryphius into the Polish language.

At the same time, we have already initiated the first sound recording of Anna Teichmüller's songs. Further, we are planning the first sound recordings of the music of forgotten composers from the region. All films have been translated in the association's recording studio.

Now an institution:
the Augusta Culture Salon

In one of the most beautiful streets of Görlitz, Augustastrasse, there was already the tradition of the privately maintained cultural salon. Just as back then, the aesthetics and beauty of the architecture are still impressive, there are the large living spaces in many of these Wilhelminian style houses and the artistic interests of many residents of the street. Right here at Augustastraße number six is our salon in a single-storey, spacious apartment that is part of a wonderful clinker building. A freshly restored "August Förster" grand piano from the 1930s and a spinet are available for musical performances, both made in the best Saxon craft tradition.

Lausitzer Barockensemble -
Love of early music and its performance practice

On the occasion of the Telemann Year 2017 and the symbolic role that the baroque composer plays for the common Polish-German cultural heritage in both countries, the association founded a small ensemble (6-9 musicians). After performing in the Telemannstadt Sorau and other architectural monuments in Lusatia, the musicians from Germany and Poland decided to continue to explore and perform the region's cultural heritage together. The last major project was the rediscovery of Antonio Lotti's pastoral melodrama "Giove in Argo". The next concert took place in Kislingswalde Castle (May 31, 2019).
