Baroque ensemble

The Lusatian Baroque Ensemble was founded in Görlitz-Zgorzelec at the end of 2016 with musicians from both sides of the Neisse, young artists who share a love for early music and who like to make music together. They deal with the musical history of the region and above all want to bring unknown or forgotten works of the Polish and German Renaissance and Baroque to life. Her first appearance was dedicated to Georg Philipp Telemann, one of the most important composers of the Central German Baroque, who combined many European influences in his music and was particularly fond of Polish folk music, which he performed at the court of the Prince of Promnitz in Pless and Sorau has inspired numerous compositions. For example, the ensemble performed as part of the Telemann anniversary in Sorau in June 2017 and in the baroque castles of Rammenau and Hainewalde in Upper Lusatia.

In 2018 a small trio formation from the ensemble performed in the former Protestant church in Ruszow with Polish and German baroque music compositions. Also in the OP-ENHEIM Foundation in Wroclaw with baroque music by Jewish composers as part of the event for the presentation of the book "Jewish Life in Wroclaw" by Dr. Herzig (December 2018). A series of concerts that followed was very successful, with the ensemble in Rammenau Castle, in the Bürgersaal Zittau and in the crypt of St. Peter's Church in Görlitz. In 2019 the ensemble performed as part of the KUS festival (INTERREG Poland-Saxony project) and at the opening of Schlösserland Sachsen. The premiere in modern times of Antonio Lotti's opera "Giove in Argo" as part of the celebrations for the 300 years since the Planetary Festival in September 2019 in the Kurtheater in Bad Salzbrunn and in the Palais in Großer Garten in Dresden was a great success. The concert was repeated in 2020 in the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater in Görlitz and the State and University Library in Dresden.

The artistic director and manager of the ensemble is Eleni Ioannidou.

The concert master is the well-known baroque violinist Enrique Gómez-Cabrero Fernández.

The permanent soloist of the ensemble is the recorder player Susan Joseph.

Enrique Gomez-Cabrero Fernandez

Concertmaster, Baroque violin

Enrique was born in Spain. After studying violin at Francisco Comesaña Madrid in 2005, his interest in historical performance led him to study baroque violin at the Koninklijk Conservatory in The Hague with Ryo Terakado, where he graduated in 2010.

He studied and received master classes from some of the early music luminaries such as Enrico Gatti, Hiro Kurosaki, François Fernandez, Elisabeth Walfisch, Mira Glodeanu, Ton Koopman, etc.

He played with groups such as La Ritirata, Banchetto Musicale, Baroque Orchestra of the Netherlands and is concertmaster and soloist of Contrasto Armónico, with whom he has recorded more than 10 CDs. He also played as concertmaster with the Concerto Barocco and Damascus Baroque soloists and is a member of the soloists of the Capella Enrico Stuart in Rome. He has played in some of the best concert halls, festivals, radios and televisions in Europe, America and the Middle East.

He teaches regularly at several summer courses in the Czech Republic, Poland and Canada and was visiting teacher at the Damascus Conservatory.

He is the founder and artistic director of the baroque ensemble "La Villanesca" and conductor of the "Lausitzer Baroque ensemble". In 2019 he made his debut as an opera conductor in Poland and Germany, where he gave the first performance in modern times of the pastoral melodrama "Giove in Argo" by Antonio Lotti.

In his free time he is also a composer.

Susan Joseph

Soloist, recorder

Susan Joseph was born in Leipzig, where she received extensive musical training in the subjects of clarinet, recorder and piano at the "Johann Sebastian Bach" music school. After graduating from high school, she studied clarinet / orchestral music with Prof. Wolfgang Mäder and recorder / early music with Prof. Robert Ehrlich at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig. After the diploma exams - both with distinction - followed a postgraduate course for clarinet at the University of Music "Franz Liszt" in Weimar with Prof. Martin Spangenberg, which she completed in 2005 with the concert exam.

Susan Joseph was a member of the Vogtland Philharmonie Greiz / Reichenbach from 2005 to 2019, initially as deputy principal clarinet, and soon after as principal clarinet.

Since 2015 she lives and works in Görlitz as a versatile musician and teacher. With the two instruments clarinet and recorder, she can immerse herself in a wide variety of styles from the past 500 years and uses this for numerous projects with changing chamber music ensembles.

Susan Joseph is a permanent member of the "Lausitzer Barockensemble", a German-Polish ensemble that promotes regional baroque cultural heritage.

Szczepan Dembiński

Baroque cello

Szczepan Dembiński, born in Lubin in 1993, began playing various bass string instruments at a young age. He started his musical career as a teenager with the medieval ensemble “Rocal Fuza", in which he played the fiddle. Szczepan began his cello training at the age of eight at the Stanisław Moniuszko Music School in Jelenia Góra. After completing his training with Halina Buszyńska, he began his baroque cello studies in 2011 at the Academy of Music Karol Lipinski in Wroclaw in the class of Bartosz Kokosza, which he completed in 2019. As part of an Erasmus stay, he studied in the academic year 2018/19 at the music academy "Pôle Alienor" in Poitiers, France in Hilary Metzger's class. Numerous master classes with Rachel Podger, Alison McGillivray, Markus Möllenbeck, Ageet Zweistra and Jakub Kościukiewicz complemented his musical education. Szczepan is a multiple winner of youth competitions. He has won numerous prizes at the Schola Cantorum Festival in Kalisz and the "Musical Impressions Bydgoszcz" competition. Szczepan performs as a soloist and chamber musician in various ensembles. He is the founder and musical director of the "Serenissima Res Publica" ensemble and a member of "Ensemble Baroque du Poitou ","Das Lausitzer Barockensemble"," Oak Brothers "," Project '93 ", and" Green Core ". In 2017 Szczepan released his first CD" Oak Brothers "," Immortal Chords "and in 2019 he worked on the CD of the “Lausitzer Ensemble” “Telemann, Crossing Borders”, with.
