Eleni Ioannidou

Opera-singer

The greek-polish opera singer Eleni Ioannidou was born in Wroclaw. After completing two studies in Greece, one in agricultural sciences and then one in classical singing, both graduated with honors, she won a scholarship from the "Society of Friends of Music / Megaron Mousikis Athinon" in Greece. She continued her studies in Austria (University of Music and Performing Arts), in Italy (Corso Biennale "Il Teatro e la Musica") and at the renowned "Accademia della Scala di Milano" with Leyla Gencer. At the same time, she took her first steps as a professional artist in the Arena di Verona, La Scala in Milan, the Teatro Piccolo di Milano, the "Maggio Musicale Trapanese" festival and the National Opera of Athens. She made her debut in the most important roles for her voice (lirico spinto), particularly Mozart, Belcanto and Verdi. She won several international competitions such as "Velluti" (in Dolo, Venice),"Giuseppe di Stefano"(Trapani, Sicily) and was a finalist in the "Voci verdiane"(Busseto). She was also awarded the "Franco Corelli" prize for her achievements at the Accademia della Scala. She was selected by Jose Carreras to give with him a concert at Megaron Mousikis Athinon for the benefit of the Leuchemia Foundation and accomplished many concert tours not only in Europe, but also in Japan and South America.

 

From 2008 to 2016 she lived in Munich and worked as a freelance singer. Since 2015 she has also worked as a producer for music and theater ("Segreto di Susanna" by Wolf-Ferrari in the Wolf-Ferrari House in Ottobrunn). In 2016 she moved to Görlitz, where she successfully carried out the planning and artistic direction of the "international Messiaen days" for the association "Meetingpoint Music Messiaen". In 2017 she founded the society "Ars-Augusta e.V.", of which she is chairwoman. In addition, she initiated and founded and managed the "Lausitzer Barock-Ensemble", which consists of young German and Polish baroque musicians. One of the most important Initiatives as producer was the organization of the Lied-Competition "Bolko von Hochberg" in Görlitz and the "Academia Ars Augusta" with which she produced international discoveries of baroque operas, such as Antonio Lottis "Giove in Argo" (2019 and 2020). The ACADEMIA is since 2021 member of the FEDORA Plattform and was shortlisted for the prestigious FEDORA-Educational Prize 2021.

 

She speaks six languages ​​(Italian, English, Polish, Greek, German, French), plays the piano, writes and paints. Her passion is music, her interests are theater, philosophy and architecture.
